Belmont BASEC at Chenery – Workshops for kids!

Welcome to BASEC @ Chenery, the after school program at Belmont’s Chenery Middle School.

*Please note that the information outlined below reflects programming during a normal year. BASEC has made modifications to its after school programming to ensure safety during the pandemic. Please visit our FAQ page or review the 22-23 Family Handbook to learn more. 

BASEC provides Chenery students with a bridge between school and home. With a well-developed curriculum, BASEC @ Chenery imparts important 21st century skills including organizational skills, community service, social awareness, communication, creative problem solving, mindfulness, collaboration and teamwork.


How BASEC @ Chenery works:

  • Runs Monday to Friday, from school dismissal until 6pm.
  • Programming includes structured homework in the library, games, arts and crafts, sports, field trips, and more!
  • Specialized enrichment workshops that run on a semester basis.
  • Held every day in the Chenery School cafeteria, library, gym, and sports fields
  • Day camp available during February and April vacation weeks
  • Full summer enrichment program
  • Professional after school teachers, trained to work with pre-adolescents

Parent Lecture Series 2020

Stella Panzarella (she/her/hers) is the Director and co-founder of Anti-Racism Collaborative and an anti-oppression organizer in the greater Boston area. She brings with her experiences from social justice organizing, trauma and resilience training work, and leadership development with young people of color.

With historical and systemic models for reference and a dash of memes for good measure, our speaker will take attendees on a journey of lens-building and reframing of an understanding of racism and oppression within and beyond the Belmont community. “Meet the Author” Events — Collaboration w/ Chenery Library and Belmont Books

We are excited to announce three “Meet the Author” events happening in the month of February in collaboration with Belmont Books and Chenery Library. The events will be taking place in the Chenery cafeteria from 3:00PM-4:00PM, including books sales and author signings. Below are details about each event, the books, and their authors, as well as pre-order forms from Belmont Books. These pre-sale books will be distributed at the event.
