In this special first-grade workshop, students will learn all about the skills they need to put on their very own short play!  We’ll play theater games, build confidence speaking on stage, and get crafty making our own set pieces and costumes.  Each week, we’ll explore various drama activities, until the final weeks, where we will put it all together to produce, practice and perform a mini-play based on the book The Rainbow Fish.

Welcome all Pokémon Trainers; It’s time to play the Pokémon trading card game! In this class, you will learn how to properly play the Pokémon TCG, work on some Pokémon arts and crafts, and do all things Pokeman. If you want to be a top trainer, then come check us out!

Environmental Explorers is a workshop that connects students to nature right in “our own backyard”. Each week, students will dig into a new topics while building science practices and naturalist skills. When possible, lessons will bring students outside and use whatever environment is readily available. There will also be opportunities to meet some of Mass Audubon’s native wildlife ambassadors (live animals). Come explore and learn more about the natural world.

Everyone loves a good story! Students will meet with Vana as she reads an engaging new or classic picture book. After enjoying and discussing the story, the students will work on a connected craft or project.  Students will imagine, create, and leave with their own masterpiece inspired by the tale.

Begin your home a gallery collection with your own series of beautiful paintings.  Students will learn and build experience creating individual paint studies using experimental painting techniques.  Once these individual pieces are completed, they will use their new knowledge to create a single successful composition either by collaging their pieces or creating a new piece using their favorite methods.  Each creation is sure to be a masterpiece!

This workshop will take a hands-on approach to problem solving and turning student ideas into reality!  Starting with directed challenges using familiar tools like LEGO bricks, students will develop their engineering abilities and build on what they know.  Students will explore materials like LEGO, K’nex, upcycled items and building supplies and create marble mazes, vehicles and more!

In this workshop, students will learn many different ways of sculpting creatively. We will be creating three dimensional art with tons of fun materials.  Students will hone foundational sculpting skills by creating custom pieces that include pottery, paper mache, backpack accessories, giant origami and more!  Can we create it, yes we can!

This workshop will give kids a playful and fun environment to grow as young performers.  Each session will focus on a different acting skill, such as creating a character, using props, working as a team, or writing skits.  We will emphasize teamwork and encouragement over a final product.  It’s perfect for kids who already love the spotlight, and also for kids who may be stage-shy, but want a chance to let their imaginations shine!

Martial Arts is a great way to give kids a headstart in life. Students will learn the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination, and increase strength and flexibility. This workshop is taught in a fun, energetic and disciplined style by Renshi Craig a Master 5th Degree Black Belt and the owner of Craig’s Kempo Karate Academy and his instructors. Come learn and expand your knowledge of how computer programs work!  This workshop uses the Scratch language developed by MIT to dive into programming.  Students will learn to create, edit and remix original code that culminates in creating a fully playable interactive game which can be played and shared with others.

Both beginners and those that have coding experience will enjoy this dive into coding!
