This workshop is open to third grade students who have taken Ken’s Magic Workshop in the fall or winter sessions. This workshop will expand on the knowledge and tricks that students have already learned with more advanced information and techniques.

NOTE: This workshop is only open to third grade students that took the BASEC Magic workshop in the fall or winter workshop session.

Environmental Explorers is a workshop that connects students to nature right in “our own backyard”. Each week, students will dig into a new topics while building science practices and naturalist skills. When possible, lessons will bring students outside and use whatever environment is readily available. There will also be opportunities to meet some of Mass Audubon’s native wildlife ambassadors (live animals). Come explore and learn more about the natural world. This workshop is open to new and returning students.

Mechanical theaters are a little-known part of the history of theater and animation.   In this workshop, students will explore and learn about examples of mechanical theaters. They will then use simple engineering techniques and their own creativity to design a crank-operated puppet show and bring it to life using basic materials and supplies.  The only limit is their imagination!
