Learn Great Magic with Ken – Grades 3-4
Watch amazing magic up close and then learn how to do it! Ken is an award-winning magician who loves to teach students magic! Tricks that students will learn include: how to make rubber bands jump around on your fingers, have paperclips leap into the air and link together, push a coin through a table, change the color of handkerchiefs, plus all sorts of fun with cards &emdash; and more. Students will receive their own supplies so that they will be able to practice at home and ‘wow’ their friends and family.

Music and Movement – Kindergarten
In this music and movement workshop, children will explore new ways to express their thoughts, ideas, and feelings. This workshop will include engaging movement and music activities such as dancing with props (scarves, ribbons, or feathers), learning and repeating rhythms with rhythm sticks and creative movement, yoga, line dancing, and painting to music, among others. Children will have fun while enhancing essential skills like social-emotional, fine and gross motor skills, and cognitive development.
NOTE: This workshop will not run on March, 26th. Students will participate in regular BASEC Kindergarten programming on that day.

Save the Drama for Mrs. Hurwitz – Grades 1-2
In this workshop students will have fun finding their creative sides as they explore ways to express themselves through readers theater, charades, make believe and other performance games. Mrs. Hurwitz is excited to share her love of drama with the students and watch their confidence grow!

Environmental Explorers – Grades 1 – 2
Each week, students will investigate how plants and animals survive in winter while building science practices and naturalist skills. When possible, lessons will bring students outside to explore their local environment. There will be many opportunities for students to meet some of Mass Audubon’s native wildlife ambassadors (live animals) during class. Come, explore and learn more about the natural world. This workshop is open to new and returning students.

Tuesday Creative Cooking – Grades 3-4
This fun and delicious workshop introduces students to basic kitchen skills, techniques, equipment and recipes while creating and enjoying delicious food. Students love learning to cook! NOTE: This workshop is only open to students that did not take this workshop in the fall.

Karate: Grades 1 – 4
Martial Arts is a great way to give kids a headstart in life. Students will learn the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination, and increase strength and flexibility. This workshop is taught in a fun, energetic and disciplined style by Renshi Craig a Master 5th Degree Black Belt and the owner of Craig’s Kempo Karate Academy and his instructors. This workshop is open to new and returning students at all levels in grades 1 – 4. The fee includes tuition and the test and belt fees.
