Coding – Grade 3
Say “hello, world” to coding with this fun introduction to the language of computers. Using Scratch, an online block-based code platform, students will explore how computers process information by putting together code to complete different tasks and challenges each week. The class will work together to give eachother ideas and feedback, with students working towards the goal of coding their own playable computer game by the end of the workshop session. Let’s get coding!
*This class will not run on 3/13 due to a scheduled teacher absence. Students not enrolled in BASEC that day may attend BASEC until 4:00pm.

Beginner Chess – Grades 1-2
Come discover the fun of chess! This workshop is open to students in grades 1 and 2. Students will dive into the world of chess, learning the fundamentals of the game in a fun and supportive environment. With plenty of opportunity to play against peers, this entry-level workshop helps students fine-tune their skills and understanding of the rules, while building confidence through engaging lessons, matches and feedback. This is open to new students and any returning students who are still learning the fundamentals of chess.
