Winter Mini-MUN (Grades 5 & 6)

in: Chenery on: Friday
meets: 12/5, 12/12, 12/19, 1/9, 1/16, 1/23
time: 2:45pm-4:00pm

In BASEC Model UN (MUN), students role-play as delegates of the United Nations. During the Winter Mini-MUN workshop, pairs of students are assigned a particular country to research and represent in Model UN Committee simulations. Through these simulations, student delegates work collaboratively to find and create solutions to real global issues. Winter Mini-MUN culminates in a special, first-ever BASEC-run conference, consisting of BASEC @ BMS & BASEC @ Chenery students and chaired by the BASEC MUN teachers. It gives students the opportunity to collaborate across ages and experience levels, and provides an excellent opportunity for fifth graders to start their MUN journey in a collaborative, learning-focused environment. Participating in Model UN is a great way to improve skills in public speaking, debate, teamwork, collaboration, research, writing, and global awareness!

The Mini-MUN conference will be held Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Belmont, MA.
