Get Into Gaming!
In “Get Into Gaming”, we will parallel learning about games throughout history while playing them in real time. As we progress through the workshop, we will also progress through time and the evolution of games and how they became what they are today. We will be exploring games that range from tabletop, old gaming systems(NES, SNES), and even newer gaming systems (Nintendo Switch). While learning and playing various games, students will engage in popular discussion topics in the gaming community: What makes a good game?, What is a game?, and How do games impact us in our day-to-day lives?, to name a few.
Note from the teacher: I myself have always been an avid gamer since I was young. From growing up playing dominoes and billiards (as much as a child can), to experiencing new gaming systems as they release, the Gameboy and the Nintendo DS, and being able to purchase my own gaming systems as an adult. My goal with this workshop is to share my love of gaming and help students release the true power that lies within it, as games are not always about winning!
*Please note that this workshop will run for 10 weeks.
