Workshops

BASEC Workshops are enrichment classes that promote deep exploration into topics of interest for BASEC students. When space is available, BASEC Workshops are opened to the greater Fowler community. Children who don’t usually attend after school are encouraged to take BASEC Workshops.

BASEC @ Fowler Spring Workshop Session — REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!

Please review this catalog of classes to learn more about the enriching workshops being offered at BASEC @ Fowler.

Workshops begin the week of 3/24 and continue for 8 weeks. 

All workshops will run from 2:30 PM – 3:30 PM at Fowler Middle School. Students should be picked up or have sign-out authorization in place to depart BASEC @ Fowler each day by 4:30 PM, if they are not signed up for after school that day. After School students transition to and from Workshops directly from BASEC.

Per our licensing regulations, all students participating in BASEC Workshops must register (and complete our enrollment form) for BASEC. If your child currently attends before or after school, you are already fully enrolled! Just register for the Workshops you would like below. If your child is not currently registered for BASEC for the 2024 – 2025 school year, you may register for the Workshops below and then we will email you our enrollment form that will need to be completed and returned before Friday, March 21st.

We are excited to announce that tuition for all Workshops will be free to students enrolled in BASEC after school on the day of their workshop. 

Tuition

  • Student enrolled in BASEC on workshop day — FREE!* 
  • Student enrolled in BASEC but does not attend on workshop day — $80.00 
  • Student not enrolled in BASEC — $80.00 + $50.00 ($50 is a one time registration fee).

*Our online registration e-commerce tool will not allow us to discount workshop tuition down to $0. As a result, families registering for a workshop on a day their child attends after school will be asked to submit a payment of $1. This will be applied to your next invoice.

Monday Workshops

Basketball 3v3s (Gr. 4-8)

in: Fowler on: Monday
meets: 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14, 4/28, 5/5, 5/12, 5/19. Make up date (if necessary) 6/9. time: 2:30PM-3:30PM

Basketball 3v3s: Perfect for all skill levels. Warm up and practice essential skills like dribbling, passing, footwork, and shooting before jumping into 3v3 play with friends.

Cultural Crafts (Gr 4-8)

Learn about different cultures through crafting. In this workshop we will create and explore Native American Basket Weaving, Japanese Zen Gardens, Mexican Talavera Pottery Painting, Egyptian String Art, and Chinese Paper Quilling.

Tuesday Workshops

Creating Calm: Art & Yoga (Gr. 4-8)

in: Fowler on: Tuesday
meets: 3/25, 4/1, 4/8, 4/15, 5/6, 5/13, 5/20, 5/27 (No Workshops 4/22 & 4/29 due to April Break and Instructor Absence) time: 2:30PM-3:30PM

This relaxing and uplifting workshop will focus on creating calm through artmaking and yoga practices. Throughout the 8 weeks, each session will have art projects focused on mindfulness balanced with yoga flows dedicated to sun salutations and restorative poses. Students will become more in-tune with their bodies, breath, imaginations, and creativity! Beginner-friendly yoga and each student will receive a complimentary yoga mat to use for the workshop and beyond!

Wednesday Workshops

Tiny Designers (Gr. 4-8)

meets: 3/26, 4/2, 4/9, 4/16, 4/30, 5/7, 5/14, 5/21. Make up date (if necessary) 5/28. time: 2:30PM-3:30PM

Join us for the “Tiny Designers” workshop, where you’ll have the opportunity to design a room (or two) from the ground up! Learn to create personalized spaces by selecting everything from flooring to accessories. Using the scale method, you’ll craft custom furniture and décor that perfectly fits your space.

Thursday Workshops

It’s Electric (Gr. 4-8)

in: Fowler on: Thursday
meets: 3/27, 4/3, 4/10, 4/17, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22. Make Up Date (if necessary) 5/29. time: 2:30PM-3:30PM

Prepare for a shocking good time! In this workshop we will explore electricity as students create circuits, electric powered cars, scribbling robots and more!
