STEM with Ola (K-8) *Session 4
Choose between Robotics or Water STEM!
Curriculum Option #1: Water STEM
Make a splash this summer!
This series of hands-on activities might get a little wet, but young engineers will have a blast putting their water-based inventions to the test. We’ll even sneak in some learning about surface tension, fluid pressure, and centrifugal force.
Projects include:
- Creating handheld sprinklers
- Building giant bubble wands
Curriculum Option #2: Robotics
Robots in your own backyard?!
It’s true, you can engineer, program, and test robots from the comfort of your lawn this August!
Students will explore the three major functions of a robot — sensing (input), thinking (computation), and acting (output) — through a series of missions in the GoPiGo robotics platform.
GoPiGo is an educational robotics platform developed for the Raspberry Pi, a single-board computer that fits in the palm of your hand. Coding projects use Bloxter, a coding language similar to Scratch.
Missions and platform will vary based on age range and coding experience. GoPiGo will be used for grade 2 and up. Other projects are available for K-1.
$500 – Small Group (1-5 students)
$740 – Large Group (6-10 students)
