Have you ever wanted a real robot you could control? This workshop will provide an introduction to block-based coding that will be used to control GoPiGo robots. Students will work collaboratively in small groups to customize, code, and guide their robots through different challenges given by the instructor. In addition, students will be given time to experiment on their robot to perform a motion or task of their choosing. Let the robot takeover begin!

NOTE: This same workshop will be offered on Wednesdays at 2:00.

During this four class mini-session, returning karate students will continue to work on skills they have learned and also participate in special karate activities and games. Students will continue to learn the positive benefits of self-discipline and confidence, develop coordination, and increase strength and flexibility. This workshop is taught in a fun, energetic and disciplined style by Renshi Craig, a Master 5th Degree Black Belt and the owner of Craig’s Kempo Karate Academy, and his instructors. Environmental Explorers is a workshop that connects students to nature right in “our own backyard”. Each week, students will investigate how plants and animals adapt to spring while building science practices and naturalist skills. Lessons will bring students outside to explore their local environment! There is also be opportunities to meet some of Mass Audubon’s native wildlife ambassadors (live animals). Come explore and learn more about the natural world. This workshop is open to new and returning students.

Students will learn and explore different do-it-yourself techniques from button-pressing and key chain creation to creating their own unique crests. Students will explore how to choose a focus for their art and build experience creating each layer of a successful composition: From background, to decorative embellishment, and finally to rendering their subject in different styles and mediums.

Dive into the world of chemistry with a different colorful experiment every week. Students will learn how and why each experiment works, make hypotheses about what will happen, and conduct the experiments either individually or with a small group. Note: Due to the nature of this workshop, students will not be able to take most of their experiments home, but photos taken of experiments will be made available to families at the end of the session.
