Model U.N. (MUN) – Advanced Level (Grades 5+)

in: Virtual on: Tuesday
meets: 11/10, 11/17, 11/24, 12/1, 12/8, 12/15 *This is a year long class. Dates continue through the 2020/2021 school year.
time: 4:30-5:30

We face many challenges in the world we live in, but together we can overcome them. The basis of Model U.N. is working together in creating solutions for issues experienced by people across the world. Students will study various countries by learning of their issues, culture, and identity, then “represent” that country during Model U.N. virtual mock diplomacy conferences. During conferences, students will present the information they have learned to students from other towns, states, and countries. They will debate other students, argue the positions of their country, and work to influence the solutions proposed to solve the topical issues. MUN is hard work, but is an excellent way to develop confidence in public speaking skills, world history, and to learn the ways of our world.

Advanced MUN is for students who have participated in BASEC’s MUN course previously or have completed a similar outside class. If you are unsure if advanced is the right fit, please contact Carter at carter.eichenberg@belmontbasec.org.

This class will run for the remainder of the 20-21 school year. We strongly encourage that students who sign up commit for the entire session.

This class is designed for students in grades 5 and up.

*PLEASE NOTE! If your child is in after school, there will be a registration fee for virtual Model U.N. conferences. This will be collected at a later date. The cost of virtual conferences has been included in the yearly registration fee for non-BASEC students.

PLEASE NOTE! If your child is enrolled in 20-21 After School, virtual workshops are free!

When checking out, select “Yes” for the question “Does your child currently attend After School on Tuesday?” to receive the discounted price.

Due to restrictions of our registration system, a $1 fee must be collected when signing up. The $1 will be refunded. We apologize for any inconvenience!
