Media Makers: Masked Marauders w/ Elyse & Meredith (Grades 4-6)
What makes an effective video? How can we catch viewers’ attention and generate a buzz? We’ll study the ideas behind successful PSA’s, then create our own finished pieces. In this workshop, students will produce short videos that can actually lead to positive change. Working in small teams, we will create 30-60 second PSA’s (Public Service Announcements) to add to Belmont’s Mask-Up campaign. Students will play fun theatre games, experiment with live performance, create hand-made artwork and use puppetry to get the message across.
Students will learn and explore video production skills including phone and webcam settings, composing your shot, lighting, and audio. The PSA’s will be broadcast on Belmont Media Center Public Access TV and shown on Youtube and Facebook. Join Videographer, Animator, and Puppeteer Meredith Holch from Belmont Media Center and BASEC @ Burbank’s Performing Arts Specialist Elyse Brown for this exciting new workshop!
* In order to participate, students need a cell phone or laptop with web-cam.
This class is designed for students in grades 4-6.
